Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question that only a chainmaille artisan can answer?

Or a question only a macramé artist can give a good explanation to?

Or something only the site owner might be able to reply to properly?

You’re in the right place! Your slightly mad Vic, the presence behind Destai, is here, ready to take your questions and turn them into facts, bits of text, and responses. Onwards!

Q: How do I know the bracelet or necklace size I need?

A: The easiest way is to measure with a piece of string around your wrist or to the length you want your necklace. There is a handy guide to this on the Custom Order page.

Q: What payment methods can I use?

A: I take both PayPal and a nice assortment of cards, or if you’d rather use a payment plan you can pay via Klarna, which spreads it over three payments for three months.

Q: How long can I expect to wait for my order to reach me?

A: Short answer, maximum 4-5 weeks. Long answer, it depends on how busy I am. Most of the time I can get an order in the post within 2-3 weeks (and then it’s up to the post system to take it away!), although if my order book is properly full up it may take a little longer than that. If it will take me ages (i.e. more than 4 weeks), I will contact you to let you know.

Q: I’m allergic to [a metal or a kind of fibre], but I really like this piece made of [the metal or the kind of fibre]. Is there a way you can remake it in a different material for me?

A: If it’s plain chainmaille (without any pendants or charms) then I can probably do it. If it’s got dangly bits then probably not as it’s difficult to find the same pendants and charms in different metals.
If it’s macramé then the colours will probably not be the same, but I can make the same shape / pattern at least. If you’re allergic to nylon and you want a paracord piece though, you’re unfortunately out of luck.
Regardless, it doesn’t hurt to ask! Send me a message via the Contact Destai page, or the Custom Order page to find out.

Q: Who is this oddball in charge of this Destai business anyway?

A: My name is Vic, I’m Norwegian by birth and a certified outcast, oddball and potential friend. Have a look over at the About page if you’re curious about me.

This page is very much a living page, by which I mean it’s forever in progress. If I start getting a lot of questions around the same theme I’ll add them here to make life easier for everyone. If you have a question you think should be added, why not let me know via the Contact page. I look forward to hearing from you!
