Looking for that unique, massive, chunky, stainless steel symbol of strength and thunder?! Look no further! This is a Mjölnir (Thor’s Hammer) made out of individual stainless steel rings in a tight chainmaille pattern. Perfect for the big, bearded, Nordic warrior type, or, really, anyone who enjoys Norse mythology. Or comics. 🙂
The big (2 inches tall, see last picture) pendant hangs off a chainmaille necklace which is 22 inches (56cm) long. The entire necklace with pendant is made of stainless steel rings, lovingly woven together by hand (well, I do use pliers!). It’s medium heavy – it won’t cause any neck injuries, but you’ll probably notice it’s there! The chain closes with a stainless steel lobster clasp, which acts as a weak point in the event the necklace should get caught on something.
This is a one-off pendant, simply because it was so difficult to make! Tendons were strained, blood was drawn (you’d be surprised how easy it is to stab yourself with pliers) and the project had to be put down several times to stop me from throwing it across the room. Maybe I’ll attempt it again in the future, if my sanity whittles away further, but for now this is the only one of its kind.
I make all my pieces to a high standard, the Viking way, but if you have any issues please do not hesitate to contact me.
